Embracing technology

I stared at the carburetor sitting the water through the plastic cover. The green LED display was counting down from 180 and there was a constant buzzing sound. “Is it doing anything yet?” my wife asked. I hope so I paid 80 bucks for this ultrasonic cleaner. I already have a solvent based parts washer but the thought of cleaning parts with just water seemed too good to be true. I did some

research and many people have had good results. From Google: Ultrasonic cleaning uses cavitation bubbles induced by high frequency pressure (sound) waves to agitate a liquid. The agitation produces high forces on contaminants adhering to substrates like metals, plastics, glass, rubber, and ceramics. I find that I am constantly looking for new technology to save time, money, and energy. For me I see it like investing – spending some money up front now can pay dividends that far outweigh the initial cost in the future. When I opening the cover of the ultrasonic cleaner I was not impressed. The water was clear and the carb was still dirty. Next I used some of the powdered cleaner and ran it for another cycle. When I came back the water was cloudy and the carb was cleaner. Time for another cycle. Now we are getting it done. I was now impressed. I found myself an automatic parts washer for my BIG RED carburetors.
